The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) Regimental Centre in Srinagar celebrated a significant moment today as it held the Passing Out Parade (POP) for its fifth batch of Agniveers. A total of 326 recruits were formally inducted into the Indian Army after successfully completing 31 weeks of intensive physical, mental, and tactical training. The parade marked a proud day for the recruits and their families, who gathered at the regimental grounds along with senior Army officers and instructors to witness the emotional attestation ceremony.

The reviewing officer, a senior Army official, addressed the gathering and congratulated the newly inducted Agniveers. He lauded their hard work and discipline and emphasized the importance of the day in the history of the JAK LI Regiment. “You are very fortunate to be part of Agniveer Batch No. 5. From today, you carry the legacy of this proud regiment on your shoulders,” he said. He acknowledged the vital role of the families in the journey of the recruits and extended blessings, saying, “May Allah, Waheguru, Buddha, and God bless your journey ahead.”

The Agniveers, visibly proud and determined, shared their emotions. Akhter Habib from Kupwara said, “Today is a proud moment for us. After 31 weeks of struggle, we stand tall. Training had its ups and downs, but we kept looking ahead.” Another recruit from Kupwara added, “I am proud to be selected as an Agniveer. This is just the beginning of our responsibility to serve and protect the nation.” Their words reflected their unwavering commitment and readiness to contribute to the country’s defence.

For the families, the ceremony carried immense emotional value. Niamatullah from Uri, whose son was among the inductees, expressed heartfelt gratitude. “We live under constant shelling from Pakistan in Uri. It is hard to live there. We often have to move to Srinagar or Baramulla. That is why it is necessary to send our sons to the army,” he said. He thanked the Army officers for shaping the recruits and guiding them through a transformative journey.

Bashir Ahmad Bhatt of Magam Handwara, proud father of a newly inducted Agniveer, said, “My son got a chance to serve the country. I want my second son to join too.” His sentiments echoed the belief that joining the army is a dignified and valuable path in today’s time of high unemployment. A young woman, whose husband was inducted, shared her pride as well: “My husband has become an Agniveer. I am proud of him. Our entire family is in the Army. Today, more youth are keen to join the forces. The thinking has changed.”
