Govt Orders High-Level Probe Into Alleged Negligence at Anantnag Maternity Hospital
Srinagar: The Health & Medical Education Department, J&K, has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident reported on Monday at the Child and Maternity Hospital Anantnag, following allegations of medical negligence in the death of a young woman.
According to a government order issued by the Civil Secretariat Secretary health and medical education as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC stated, sanction has been accorded for the appointment of Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, as the Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed investigation into the events that unfolded at the hospital on December 8, 2025.
The Inquiry Officer has been directed to examine the entire sequence of events leading to the incident and submit a comprehensive report along with recommendations within 14 days.
Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Medical Superintendent of the Child and Maternity Hospital Anantnag, has been tasked to assist in the enquiry.
Copies of the order have been circulated to senior government officials, including the offices of the Chief Minister, Lieutenant Governor, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry. (KNC)
