Parents Urge Govt to Declare Summer Vacation Amid Scorching Heat
Srinagar: With temperatures soaring across Kashmir, parents have appealed to the J&K government to declare summer vacation in schools immediately, citing health concerns for children amid the ongoing heatwave.
Several parents called the GNS office on Tuesday, urging authorities to look into the matter on priority. They said students, especially in primary classes, are struggling to attend school in the scorching heat.
“The heat is unbearable during noon hours when schools get off,” one parent told GNS.
Parents questioned whether officials will respond to the growing demand, as the heatwave continues to intensify.
Few days back, Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo has stated that the government will review the weather conditions and announce a decision regarding summer vacations for schools in July. No official vacation schedule or exact dates have been finalized yet.
Pertinently, Srinagar recorded the hottest day of the season on Monday as the mercury touched 35.3°C, with the Kashmir Valley reeling under an intense heatwave for the third consecutive day.(GNS)
