Teachers Not Required to Attend Schools During Summer Vacation Unless Officially Called Upon: DSEK

All government, private schools to remain closed for students and teaching staff; Employees must remain available for official duties if required

Srinagar, July 3: Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Naseer Ahmad Wani, on Friday clarified that teachers are not required to attend schools during the notified summer vacation, following reports that some institutions had allegedly asked teaching staff to report for duty during the scheduled break.

Speaking to the news agency JKNS, DSEK, Wani said the summer vacation for schools across Kashmir has already been notified from July 6 to July 19, and all government as well as private schools will remain closed during the period.

“There is no requirement for teachers to report to schools. Summer vacations have been officially announced, and both government and private schools will remain closed during the notified period,” Wani told JKNS.

He, however, said that teachers must remain available for any official assignment if their services are required by the government during the vacation.

“Teachers need not attend schools during the vacation. However, they must remain available and report for duty if called upon by the government for any official work during this period,” Wani added. (JKNS)
