MeT Forecasts Continued Wet Spell Across J&K Till Tomorrow

Srinagar, July 22, KNT: The Meteorological Department has forecast the continuation of wet weather across Jammu and Kashmir till Thursday, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over several parts of the Union Territory.

According to the MeT Department, the prevailing weather conditions could trigger flash floods in vulnerable areas, besides increasing the risk of landslides, mudslides and waterlogging, particularly in low-lying localities and along hilly stretches.

The department has advised people to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable areas during periods of intense rainfall and follow advisories issued by the local administration and disaster management authorities.

The fresh forecast comes as widespread rain has already affected several districts, causing flash floods, overflowing rivers and streams, damage to infrastructure and repeated disruptions to road connectivity, including on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged the public to stay updated on weather forecasts and official advisories as the wet spell is expected to persist through tomorrow. [KNT]
