The University of Kashmir has issued its 3rd Re-Advertisement Notice No. 16 of 2026, dated July 20, 2026, inviting online applications for the post of Lab Assistant at the Institute of Home Science. The recruitment is open to domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir belonging to the SC category.
According to the official notification, one vacancy has been advertised under Post Code PGD-HO-13. The selected candidate will be placed in Pay Level-06, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400.
Online applications opened on July 21, 2026, while the deadline for submitting the online form is August 10, 2026, up to 4:00 PM.
University of Kashmir Lab Assistant Vacancy Details
The recruitment notification covers one Lab Assistant post available at the University of Kashmir’s Institute of Home Science.
Candidates applying for the position must possess an M.Sc. in Home Science (Extension & Communication) with at least 50% marks from a recognized University or Institute.
The post carries Level-06 pay, ranging from ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400.
The University has clarified that only candidates who satisfy all prescribed eligibility conditions as of the last date for submission of online applications should apply.
Age Limit for University of Kashmir Recruitment 2026
The age of applicants will be calculated as on January 1, 2026.
Candidates must not be below 18 years of age. The upper age limit is 43 years for SC-category candidates.
For substantive in-service State University employees of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the upper age limit is 50 years.

The online application process commenced on July 21, 2026.
Eligible applicants can submit their online forms until August 10, 2026, up to 4:00 PM.
For in-service candidates applying through the proper channel, the last date for submission of hard copies is August 14, 2026.

How to Apply for University of Kashmir Lab Assistant Recruitment
Candidates have to visit the University of Kashmir website and access the Jobs/Recruitment section. They should carefully read the detailed instructions and review the application process before proceeding.
Applicants must first register themselves through the Non-Teaching Jobs link. They should retain their username and password for future use and provide a valid email address and mobile number during registration.
After successful registration, candidates need to log in using their credentials and enter their personal details, educational qualifications, experience and other required information.
Applicants should preview the application before final submission. If any correction or update is required, it must be made before submitting the form because the University has stated that editing or updating will not be permitted after final submission.
Candidates should then take a printout of the submitted application form and retain the Form Number for future reference.
Application Fee
The prescribed application fee is ₹750, which must be deposited through online mode only.
However, persons with benchmark disabilities (PWD) of minimum 40% are exempted from payment of the application fee.
The University has also stated that an application fee once paid will neither be refunded nor readjusted under any circumstances.
Candidates Must Apply Afresh
The University has clarified that the Lab Assistant vacancy is being re-advertised for the third time due to inadequate response under Advertisement Nos. 06 and 13 of 2026.
Applications submitted earlier for the post will not be considered under the present notification. Candidates who remain eligible are therefore required to submit fresh applications.
Reservation for the advertised post will be governed by the provisions of S.O. 305 dated May 21, 2024, issued by the UT Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
The notification further provides for 4% horizontal reservation for Physically Handicapped Category candidates, if applicable, in accordance with the relevant University notification. Ex-servicemen will be entitled to age relaxation and other benefits as admissible under applicable government rules and orders.
Eligibility and Document Verification
The University has stated that it will not conduct detailed scrutiny of applications regarding eligibility and other aspects at the time of the OMR-based Written Test. Candidature will consequently be accepted provisionally at that stage.
Applicants are responsible for determining whether they satisfy the required educational qualification, age, experience and reserved-category requirements with reference to the prescribed cut-off date.
During detailed scrutiny at the Document Verification stage, if any claim in an application cannot be substantiated, is incorrect, or the candidate is found ineligible under the prescribed criteria, the candidature will be cancelled.
The University may, where considered necessary, shortlist candidates for Document Verification on merit. Ordinarily, candidates may be shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio — five candidates against one advertised vacancy — subject to the availability of eligible candidates, applicable recruitment rules, court orders and decisions of the competent authority.
Being called for Document Verification will remain provisional and will not itself confer a right to selection, appointment or inclusion in the final selection list.
Selection Process and Written Test
Eligible applicants will have to undergo the screening or selection process determined by the University, details of which will be notified separately.
The syllabus for the written examination will also be notified separately and made available through the Recruitment Portal of the University’s official website.
The notification further states that merely appearing in a written examination, Skill Test or interview, wherever applicable, does not automatically entitle an applicant to appointment if the candidate is otherwise found ineligible.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit a printout of their online application form along with duly self-attested supporting documents when called for Document Verification. They must also bring all relevant original certificates and testimonials along with one set of self-attested copies.
Candidates holding degrees from foreign universities are required to submit an Equivalence Certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. Without the certificate, such degrees will not be considered.
No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written examination, Skill Test or interview, whichever is applicable.
Important Instructions for Applicants
Candidates working in regular employment with Government or Semi-Government organisations, public sector organisations, autonomous bodies of the J&K Government or Government of India are required to apply through the proper channel. Such candidates should send an advance copy so that it reaches within the stipulated deadline.
A valid email address and mobile number are mandatory and should remain active until the final selection process is completed.
Candidates who successfully submit their online applications should also ensure that their names appear in the list to be published on the University website in due course. Any discrepancy or query should be taken up personally with the Recruitment Section within the stipulated period following publication of the list.
The University has advised applicants to regularly check its Recruitment Portal for updates, corrigenda, addenda and other recruitment-related notifications, as separate communication will not necessarily be sent to individual candidates.
Services of appointees will be transferable between the different Satellite Campuses of the University of Kashmir, and canvassing in any form by or on behalf of a candidate will result in disqualification.
The recruitment is also subject to the outcome of any writ petition pending before a competent court of law.
