Complaint Boxes Made Mandatory in Schools, Education Offices Across North Kashmir
Baramulla, July 29: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has directed the installation of complaint boxes in all educational institutions and subordinate offices across North Kashmir to promote transparency, accountability and an effective grievance redressal mechanism.
The directive was issued by Joint Director, School Education Department (North), Hakeem Tanveer Ahmad, through a circular addressed to the Chief Education Officers, Zonal Education Officers, Heads of Institutions and other subordinate offices functioning in the districts of Bandipora, Baramulla and Kupwara.
According to the circular, every office and educational institution must install a properly labelled complaint box at a prominent and easily accessible location within its premises.
The complaint boxes are to be opened periodically by the Head of the Institution or an authorised officer for timely examination and disposal of grievances. Institutions have also been instructed to maintain a record of complaints received and the action taken on each of them.
The circular directs all concerned officers to ensure strict compliance within seven days of its issuance. The Chief Education Officers of Bandipora, Baramulla and Kupwara have been asked to submit a consolidated compliance report on the installation of complaint boxes immediately after the stipulated period.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening institutional accountability and providing students, parents and the public with a structured mechanism for registering grievances. [KNT]
