Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar has released Advertisement Notice No. 10 of 2026, dated August 1, 2026, inviting online applications from eligible domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for engagement as Senior Residents in various departments.
According to the notification, the appointments will be made under the Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2025, and the recruitment process will follow the eligibility criteria prescribed under Government Order No. 383-JK (HME) of 2024 dated December 20, 2024.
The online application portal will remain open from August 3, 2026 (10:00 AM) to August 7, 2026 (4:00 PM).

Candidates who have appeared in the final examination of postgraduate or postdoctoral courses in the relevant discipline are also eligible to apply.
Eligibility Criteria
As per the notification, candidates must possess the prescribed academic qualifications under the Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2025.
For most disciplines, applicants should hold MD/MS/DNB from an institution recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) in the concerned specialty.
The notification also specifies discipline-wise qualifications for super-specialty departments. These include recognized qualifications such as DM, M.Ch., DNB, M.D. (Biochemistry), Ph.D. (Medical Biochemistry), and other qualifications recognized by the NMC, depending on the department.
The upper age limit for appointment is 50 years as on the date of the selection list.

The application process begins on August 3, 2026 at 10:00 AM and concludes on August 7, 2026 at 4:00 PM.
Applicants are required to:
- Complete One Time Registration (OTR).
- Fill in personal, contact, educational and experience details.
- Upload all required certificates and documents in PDF format.
- Upload a passport-size photograph and signature in JPEG/JPG format.
- Verify all information before final submission.
After successful online submission, candidates should take a printout of the completed application form and submit hard copies along with self-attested documents to the office of the Registrar (Academics), Government Medical College Srinagar, as and when notified.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be made on the basis of performance in the MCQ-based written test, as prescribed under Government Order No. 383-JK (HME) of 2024 dated December 20, 2024.
Applications submitted after the last date or without the required documents, affidavit or fee receipt will not be accepted.
Documents Required
The notification requires candidates to upload or submit the following documents, wherever applicable:
- MBBS degree
- MD/MS/DNB/M.Ch./DM qualification or degree certificate
- Medical Council or NMC registration certificate
- Internship certificate
- Date of birth certificate
- Domicile certificate
- NOC for in-service candidates
- Experience certificates, where applicable
- Affidavit duly attested by a Judicial Magistrate
- Other documents specified in the advertisement
Candidates applying under the in-service category must also submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their parent department. Applications without the required NOC will not be entertained.
Important Instructions
The notification states that:
- Separate applications must be submitted for each specialty.
- A separate application fee must be paid for each post.
- Information furnished by candidates must be accurate, as any false declaration may lead to cancellation of candidature.
- Original documents will be verified before appointment.
- Candidates selected for appointment will initially be engaged for one year, with the possibility of extension each year based on performance, subject to a maximum tenure of three years.
- Selected candidates must not leave the institution before completing one year of engagement.
