This recruitment drive will fill 4,308 apprenticeship posts in Southern Railway. Candidates interested in the opportunity should carefully check the eligibility conditions, stipend details, selection process and application fee before applying.

Applicants are advised to go through the Detailed Notification available on the official Southern Railway website to understand the educational qualifications prescribed for the different categories of apprenticeship posts.

According to the eligibility criteria, candidates applying under the Fresher and Ex-ITI categories should have completed 15 years of age.

For candidates applying as Freshers, the upper age limit is 22 years, while candidates under the Ex-ITI category should not have completed 24 years of age.

The recruitment also includes the MLT category, for which candidates must meet the educational requirements specified in the detailed notification issued by Southern Railway.

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend during their apprenticeship training. The stipend for Freshers with Class 10 qualification has been fixed at ₹8,200 per month.

Candidates who have completed Class 12 and are selected under the Fresher category will receive a stipend of ₹9,600 per month.

The prescribed stipend for candidates selected under the Ex-ITI category is also ₹9,600 per month, as mentioned in the recruitment details.

Apprentices will also receive an increase in their prescribed minimum stipend during the subsequent years of training. During the second year, the stipend will increase by 10 per cent.

During the third year of apprenticeship training, candidates will receive a further 15 per cent increase in the prescribed minimum stipend amount.

The selection of candidates will be based on a merit list prepared from among all eligible applicants who submit their applications against the recruitment notification.

For the Fresher category, marks obtained in Matriculation will be converted to a total of 200 marks. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of these converted marks, subject to a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks in Matriculation.

For the Ex-ITI category, Matriculation marks will be converted to 100 marks, while ITI marks will also be converted to 100 marks. Both components will together carry 200 marks, with equal weightage given to Matriculation and ITI performance. Candidates must also have at least 50 per cent aggregate marks in Matriculation.

For the MLT category, marks obtained in Higher Secondary with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology will be converted to 200 marks. The merit list will be prepared using the converted marks, while the prescribed minimum aggregate requirement must also be fulfilled.

The application fee is ₹100, which has to be paid through online mode using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or UPI. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD and Women categories are exempted from paying the fee. Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should have completed 15 years of age and should NOT have completed 22/24 years for Freshers/Ex-ITI, MLT respectively.

Stipend

Fresher’s – X std: Rs.8200/- (per month)

Fresher’s – 12thstd: Rs.9600/- (per month)

Ex-ITI: Rs.9600/- (per month)

During the second year of apprenticeship training, there shall be an increase of 10 per cent in the prescribed minimum stipend amount and further 15 per cent increase in the prescribed minimum stipend amount during the third year of apprenticeship training.

Selection Process

The selection will be on the basis of Merit List prepared in respect of all the eligible candidates who apply against the Notification. The Merit List will be prepared by the Committee nominated for this purpose by following the procedure mentioned as under:

a) Fresher Category :- Marks obtained in Matriculation will be converted for 200 and merit list will be drawn based on the converted marks duly ensuring Minimum 50% in aggregate marks in Matriculation.

b) Ex.ITI :- Marks obtained in Matriculation will be converted to 100 marks ( duly ensuring Minimum 50% marks in aggregate) + ITI marks duly converted to 100. Total marks put together will be calculated for 200 marks and merit list will be drawn based on the converted marks giving equal weight age to both.

c) MLT :- Marks obtained in Higher Secondary (with Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology) will be converted for 200 and merit list will be drawn based on the converted marks duly ensuring Minimum 50% in aggregate marks in Matriculation.

Application Fee

The application fee is ₹100/-. Fee is to be paid through ONLINE MODE. No fee is required to be paid by SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates. The payment can be done through Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking/ UPI.
