The Office of the Controller of Examinations, University of Kashmir, Srinagar, has issued important instructions for candidates appearing in the recruitment tests scheduled to be held on September 15, September 22, September 29 and October 6, 2026.
The instructions have been issued for candidates who have been notified to appear in the recruitment tests on the respective dates. The examination office has advised all candidates to strictly follow the prescribed instructions to ensure the smooth, fair and secure conduct of the examination.
The notice refers to Notice No. F (Conduct-OMR Test)/UK/26, dated August 29, 2026, and outlines the requirements candidates must follow before entering the examination centre and throughout the examination process.
Candidates Asked to Report Well in Advance
According to the instructions, candidates are required to report at their allotted examination centre sufficiently ahead of the commencement of the examination.
The early reporting requirement is intended to allow candidates enough time to complete the necessary entry and verification formalities before the test begins. Candidates have therefore been advised not to wait until the last moment to reach their respective examination centres.
The examination office has specifically highlighted the importance of observing the prescribed entry timings.
Entry to Close at 1:30 PM
The recruitment examination will commence at 2:00 PM. The University of Kashmir has stated that no candidate will be permitted to enter the examination centre or examination hall after 1:30 PM under any circumstances.
Candidates have accordingly been advised to reach their examination centre well before the closing time for entry.
The notice makes it clear that the prescribed entry time is to be followed strictly. It also states that no request for relaxation of the prescribed entry time or other examination instructions will be entertained.
Admit Card and Photo ID Mandatory
Candidates appearing for the recruitment test have been instructed to bring only their Admit Card and one valid Government-recognized Photo Identity Proof to the examination centre.
The identity document must be produced for verification whenever required. Candidates are therefore expected to ensure that they have both the required admit card and valid photo identification with them when reporting for the examination.
University to Provide Pens
The examination instructions also address stationery requirements.
According to the notice, pen or pens will be provided by the Centre Superintendent at the commencement of the examination. Candidates are therefore not required to bring their own pen to the examination centre.
After the test is completed, candidates are required to return the pen or pens to the invigilation staff.
List of Prohibited Items
The University has directed candidates not to carry any other items into the examination hall. The list of prohibited articles includes mobile phones, smart watches or digital watches, Bluetooth devices, earphones and other communication devices.
Other electronic gadgets are also prohibited. Candidates have additionally been instructed not to bring calculators, books, notes, loose papers or other study material into the examination hall.
Bags, purses and other unauthorized articles are also included among the prohibited items.
The instructions further cover any other material or device that may facilitate the use of unfair means during the examination.
Candidates Advised Against Bringing Prohibited Articles
Candidates have been advised not to bring prohibited items to the examination centre because arrangements for their safe custody may not be available.
The examination office has therefore placed responsibility on candidates to ensure that they do not arrive at the centre carrying articles that are not permitted inside the examination hall.
Strict Discipline Required During Examination
The University has instructed candidates to maintain strict discipline throughout the recruitment test.
Candidates must follow all instructions issued by the Centre Superintendent and invigilators during the examination. Compliance with directions given by examination officials is part of the prescribed conduct for the test.
The notice also contains instructions concerning unfair means. Any candidate found indulging in copying, communicating with other candidates, possessing or using unauthorized material or electronic devices, impersonation, misbehavior or any other unfair means will be liable for appropriate action under the applicable rules.
Restrictions on Leaving Examination Hall
Candidates will not be permitted to leave the examination hall before the stipulated completion time of the examination.
An exception may apply only in circumstances specifically permitted by the examination authorities. Candidates have therefore been instructed to remain in the examination hall until the prescribed completion time unless permission is granted under the applicable examination arrangements.
Peaceful and Orderly Examination Environment
The University has also asked candidates to ensure that the examination is conducted in a peaceful and orderly environment.
Candidates are required to extend full cooperation to the examination staff and follow the instructions issued during the conduct of the test.
The Office of the Controller of Examinations has advised all candidates to read the instructions carefully and comply with them strictly.
The notice reiterates that no request for relaxation of the prescribed entry time or any other examination instruction will be entertained.
