The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced the commencement of online registration for the Special Scholarship Scheme for the Students of Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (SSSJKL) under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) Yojana for the academic session 2026-27.
According to the official notification, the scholarship scheme is exclusively meant for 10+2 students and engineering diploma holders from the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Eligible candidates can register online through the AICTE SSSJKL student portal within the prescribed schedule.
Registration Schedule
As per the notification, the online registration process began on:
- July 16, 2026 for eligible 10+2 students.
- July 17, 2026 for eligible Engineering Diploma students.
The notification states that detailed information regarding eligibility criteria, available courses, scholarships, and other guidelines has been provided by AICTE.
Eligibility for 10+2 Students
Students who have passed the 10+2 examination from JKBOSE or CBSE schools located in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh are eligible under the following academic sessions:
- Students enrolled during the 2024-25 academic session (enrolled in 2024 and passed in 2025).
- Students enrolled during the 2025-26 academic session (enrolled in 2025 and passed in 2026).
The notification specifies that only candidates meeting these conditions are eligible to apply under the scheme.
Courses Covered Under the Scheme
Eligible 10+2 students may apply for scholarships for the following streams:
General Degree Courses
Students pursuing general degree programmes are eligible for academic fee support up to Rs. 30,000 per annum.
Professional Courses
Candidates enrolled in professional programmes, including:
- Engineering
- Nursing
- Pharmacy
- Hotel Management
- Architecture (subject to qualifying NATA)
- BA LLB through NLU
- Other eligible professional programmes
can receive academic fee support up to Rs. 1.25 lakh per annum.
Medical and BDS Courses
Students pursuing Medical, BDS, or equivalent programmes are eligible for academic fee support up to Rs. 3.00 lakh per annum.
Eligibility for Engineering Diploma Students
The scheme also covers students who have passed their diploma during the academic year 2025-2026 from the J&K Board of Technical Education.
These candidates are eligible for lateral entry admission into the second year of Engineering and can receive academic fee support up to Rs. 1.25 lakh per annum.
Maintenance Allowance
In addition to academic fee support, the scheme provides a maintenance allowance of Rs. 1.00 lakh per annum.
According to the notification, this amount will be released through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) in ten equal instalments.
Document Verification Process
AICTE has instructed all applicants to register online through the AICTE SSSJKL student portal or visit the nearest Facilitation Center for registration assistance.
For document verification, students are required to visit the nearest Facilitation-cum-Document Verification Center (FDVC). The verification process will commence from July 18, 2026, onwards.
The notification further states that the list of FDVC centres is available on the AICTE website.
