Central University of Kashmir Announces Summer Break 2026; Academic and Administrative Activities to Continue Online

Ganderbal, May 2026: The Central University of Kashmir (CUK), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has officially announced the Summer Break for the Academic Year 2026–27. According to a circular issued by the university administration, the Summer Break will be observed from 1 July 2026 to 10 July 2026 for faculty members and students.

The university clarified that while a short academic recess has been granted, several academic and administrative activities will continue during the vacation period to ensure the smooth functioning of the institution and timely completion of academic requirements.

Online Registration for Odd Semesters to Continue

The university has informed students that the online registration process for Odd Semesters will remain active throughout the Summer Break. Students are advised to complete their registration formalities according to the previously notified schedule.

Regular classroom teaching for the new semester is scheduled to commence from 13 July 2026 following the conclusion of the vacation period.

Research Scholars and Project Staff to Remain Academically Engaged

As per the circular, research scholars and project staff members are expected to continue their academic and research work during the Summer Break through online mode wherever feasible.

The university has directed scholars and project personnel to work under the supervision of their respective Heads of Departments (HoDs), Principal Investigators (PIs), and Controlling Officers to ensure uninterrupted progress in research activities.

Departments May Conduct Online Academic Activities

The university has granted flexibility to academic departments to organize necessary academic engagements during the break period.

Heads and Coordinators of departments may conduct:

  • Online classes
  • Remedial teaching sessions
  • Mentoring and counseling activities
  • Project review meetings
  • Dissertation and thesis guidance sessions
  • Other academic engagements as required

These measures are intended to help students complete their coursework, projects, and research requirements within the stipulated academic timeline.

Elective Bucket Course Examinations After Reopening

The circular further states that examinations and evaluation processes related to Elective Bucket Courses will be conducted after the resumption of normal university operations.

These examinations are expected to be held on alternate days during afternoon sessions. A detailed examination schedule will be issued separately by the concerned examination wing of the university.

Students are advised to regularly check university notifications and departmental communications for updates regarding examination dates and evaluation procedures.

Administrative Officers to Remain on Duty

The university has clearly stated that several administrative officers will continue to perform their duties during the Summer Break.

Officials required to remain on duty include:

  • Administrative Deans
  • Deans of Schools
  • Heads of Departments
  • Faculty members holding administrative responsibilities

The circular mentions that any officer intending to avail of the Summer Break must obtain prior approval from the Competent Authority before proceeding on leave.

Administrative Offices to Function Normally

To ensure uninterrupted administrative services, all university offices, sections, and non-teaching staff will continue functioning normally throughout the Summer Break period unless separate instructions are issued by the competent authority.

This arrangement is aimed at maintaining administrative efficiency and ensuring that student services, academic processes, and institutional operations remain unaffected.
