Cluster University of Srinagar, Gogji-Bagh, Srinagar, has announced recruitment for Assistant Professor positions across various departments and subjects. The university has issued Advertisement Notice No. 05-CUS of 2026, dated August 24, 2026, inviting online applications from eligible candidates.

The advertised posts are placed in Pay Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), with a pay scale of ₹57,700 to ₹1,82,400. The recruitment notification covers a total of 14 posts across different academic disciplines.

Subject-Wise Vacancy Details

According to the recruitment advertisement, the 14 Assistant Professor vacancies are distributed across 13 departments or subjects. The vacancy details are as follows:

The vacancy table in the notification also identifies the reservation category applicable to each position. The categories mentioned include OM, SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, OBC, EWS and LAC/IB.

The notification provides details regarding the communities covered under ST-1 and ST-2. ST-1 includes Bakarwal, Balti, Beda, Bot, Boto, Brokpa, Drokpa, Dard, Shin, Changpa, Gaddi, Gaddi, Gujjar, Mon, Purigpa and Sippi as listed in the advertisement, while ST-2 includes Gadda Brahmin, Koli, Paddari Tribe and Pahari Ethnic Group.

Important Application Dates

The online application process is scheduled to become available from August 28, 2026.

Candidates interested in the advertised Assistant Professor positions must submit their online applications by September 17, 2026, up to 4:30 PM.

The university has also prescribed a separate deadline for submission of hard copies. Printed copies of the online application and the required documents must reach the university by September 24, 2026, up to 4:30 PM.

Candidates are advised to follow the deadlines carefully, as the notification specifies the dates and times for both online submission and submission of hard copies.

Application Fee

The recruitment notification specifies different application processing fees according to the candidate’s category.

Candidates belonging to the General/OM category are required to pay an application fee of ₹2,000. Candidates belonging to reserved categories are required to pay ₹1,500.

The university has stated that the application fee must be paid only through the payment gateway link available on the university website.

After completing the online application, candidates must take a printout of the submitted employment application form. The printed form, along with the required documents and receipt of application fee, has to be submitted to the Office of the Registrar. The notification also permits submission through post or registered post to the Registrar, Cluster University of Srinagar, Gogji Bagh, Srinagar, 190008, within the prescribed deadline.

Educational Qualification

The general eligibility conditions require candidates to hold a Master’s degree with 55% marks, or an equivalent grade under the applicable point-scale grading system, in the concerned or relevant subject.

The degree must be from an Indian university or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. Candidates holding a Master’s degree from a foreign university are required to submit an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The notification provides for a 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks for the categories specified in the advertisement, based on qualifying marks without including grace marks procedures.

NET, SLET, SET and Ph.D. Requirements

Candidates meeting the prescribed educational qualification are required to have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test recognized or accredited by the UGC, including SLET/SET.

Candidates who have obtained a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the applicable University Grants Commission regulations may also qualify under the conditions specified in the notification and may be exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement where applicable.

The advertisement contains specific provisions for candidates registered for Ph.D. programmes before July 11, 2009. Such candidates are to be governed by the relevant provisions of the then-existing ordinances, bye-laws and regulations of the institution awarding the degree, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

For Ph.D.-based exemption, the notification specifies requirements including award of the Ph.D. through regular mode, evaluation of the thesis by at least two external examiners and completion of an open Ph.D. viva voce.

The candidate must also have published two research papers from the Ph.D. work, with at least one published in a refereed journal. Additionally, at least two papers based on the Ph.D. work must have been presented at conferences or seminars sponsored, funded or supported by the UGC, ICSSR, CSIR or a similar agency.

Shortlisting and Merit List

The university has specified that 20 candidates will be shortlisted for interview against each post. Where more than one post is advertised, five additional applicants will be shortlisted in order of merit for every additional post.

The merit criteria include academic records, M.Phil., Ph.D., NET/JRF/SLET/SET qualifications, research publications, teaching or postdoctoral experience and awards.

As outlined in the notification, the overall assessment includes an academic score of 80 marks, 10 marks for research publications and 10 marks for teaching experience, making a total of 100 marks. The notification also provides specific scoring provisions for graduation, postgraduate qualifications, M.Phil., Ph.D., NET/JRF/SLET/SET, publications, experience and awards.

General Terms and Conditions

The university has stated that relevant information and updates concerning the recruitment will be uploaded on its website. Candidates have been advised to regularly check the university website for updates, including any addendum, corrigendum or notice issued in connection with the advertisement.

Reservation for the advertised positions will be governed by S.O. 305 dated May 21, 2024, issued by the UT Government, Jammu & Kashmir. Candidates claiming reservation under any reserved category must submit a valid certificate in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority.

The notification states that interviews will be conducted subject to the availability of a minimum of three eligible candidates, failing which the post may be re-advertised. It also specifies that self-attested certificates, including experience and category certificates and other testimonials, will be accepted only up to the closing date of online application submission.

Documents Required

Candidates are required to submit the prescribed supporting and self-attested documents along with the employment application. These include the High School certificate from a recognized board, graduation marks sheet and degree, postgraduate marks sheet and degree, NET/JRF/SET/CSIR certificate where applicable, M.Phil./Ph.D. degree where applicable, experience certificates and other documents required under the prescribed qualifications.

The university has stated that applications not accompanied by the required supporting and self-attested documents may be rejected summarily.

Candidates are also advised to satisfy themselves about their eligibility before applying. The notification states that no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
