The Office of the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, has issued Advertisement Notification No. 02(Two) of 2026 inviting offline applications for recruitment to Class IV posts in the District Courts of Srinagar. The notification is dated August 22, 2026, and provides details regarding the available vacancies, educational qualifications, domicile requirement, age criteria, application procedure, fee, documents and selection process.

According to the recruitment notification, a total of 17 Class IV posts are available under the advertised recruitment drive. The vacancies are divided between the posts of Process Server and Orderly/Chowkidar. The notification also specifies the applicable pay levels and category-wise distribution of the vacancies.

The recruitment notice states that candidates belonging to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir who meet the prescribed eligibility conditions can apply in the prescribed format.

District Court Srinagar Vacancy 2026

As per the vacancy table in the notification, there are 2 posts of Process Server and 15 posts of Orderly/Chowkidar, taking the total number of advertised vacancies to 17.

For the Process Server post, the minimum educational qualification is 10+2, while candidates applying for the Orderly/Chowkidar post must have passed the 10th standard (Matriculation) examination from a recognised Board.

The notification mentions that the vacancy position may increase or decrease depending upon the actual availability of vacancies at the time of final selection.

It also clarifies that candidates who had already applied under Notification No. 04 of 2024 dated May 16, 2024, for the said posts are not required to apply afresh.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Process Server position must have passed the 10+2 examination from any recognised Board.

For the Orderly/Chowkidar position, applicants must have passed the 10th (Matriculation) examination from any recognised Board.

The qualification acquired after the last date prescribed for submission of the application form will not be taken into consideration, according to the notification.

Domicile Requirement

The recruitment notification requires candidates to be residents of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and to possess a domicile certificate in accordance with the notification issued by the General Administration Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, vide S.O. 166 dated May 18, 2020.

Candidates are required to submit the relevant domicile certificate along with their application documents.

Age Limit

The prescribed age requirement is to be calculated as on January 1, 2026.

For candidates under the Open Merit (OM) category, the maximum age limit is 40 years. The notification specifies a maximum age limit of 43 years for candidates belonging to RBA, SC, ST, OBC, EWS and ALC/IB categories.

The date-of-birth limits mentioned in the notification are as follows:

– OM: Not born before January 1, 1986, and not born after January 1, 2008.
– RBA: Not born before January 1, 1983, and not born after January 1, 2008.
– SC: Not born before January 1, 1983, and not born after January 1, 2008.
– ST: Not born before January 1, 1983, and not born after January 1, 2008.
– OBC: Not born before January 1, 1983, and not born after January 1, 2008.
– EWS: Not born before January 1, 1983, and not born after January 1, 2008.
– ALC/IB: Not born before January 1, 1983, and not born after January 1, 2008.

Application Dates and Mode

The application process is offline. Application forms for the advertised posts can be obtained from the office of the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, during office hours from August 24, 2026, to September 22, 2026.

The notification also states that the application form can be downloaded from the official District Court Srinagar website.

Candidates intending to apply for two or more posts are required to submit a separate application for each post.

Duly filled application forms must be submitted to the office of the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Administrative Section, during office hours. The last date for submission through the offline mode is September 22, 2026.

Applications sent through Registered Post may be submitted up to September 25, 2026, which is specified as the last date for applications submitted through that mode. Applications submitted through any mode other than the prescribed offline procedure will not be accepted.

Documents Required

Applicants are required to attach self-attested copies of the prescribed documents with their application forms. These include:

– Qualification/Marks Certificate
– Date of Birth Certificate (Matriculation)
– Domicile Certificate
– Category Certificate, if applicable

The application form provided as Annexure-A contains fields for the candidate’s name, father’s name, date of birth, permanent and present postal addresses, contact details, reservation category, domicile status and qualification details.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to deposit an application fee of ₹300.

The notification specifies that the fee must be submitted in the form of a Demand Draft from J&K Bank Ltd. in favour of the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar.

Applicants are required to provide the relevant payment details in the prescribed application form.

Selection Process

The selection for the advertised posts will be made on the basis of merit obtained in the Interview/Viva Voce only, as specified in the recruitment notification.

No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for appearing in the interview or Viva Voce.

Eligible candidates will be required to appear for the interview/Viva Voce on the date or dates notified separately. The notification states that separate call letters will not be issued individually.

Instead, information regarding the venues and dates of the interview will be made available through print and electronic media as well as the official website of District Court Srinagar.

Candidates have been advised to keep track of the official website for information concerning the interview schedule. The notification states that no claim of being unaware of the scheduled interview dates will be entertained.

Reservation and In-Service Candidates

Reservation for different categories will be determined in accordance with the provisions of S.O. 176 dated March 15, 2024, and S.O. 305 dated May 21, 2024, as mentioned in the recruitment notice.

The notification further states that in-service candidates can route their application forms through the proper channel.

The recruitment notice was issued by the Office of the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, and includes instructions for concerned authorities to publicise the advertisement and upload it on the District Court Srinagar website.

According to the four-page notification, the recruitment covers 17 Class IV vacancies in total, with the application window beginning on August 24, 2026. Interested and eligible candidates are required to follow the prescribed offline procedure and submit their applications within the specified deadlines.
