The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued temporary appointment orders for 19 candidates selected for General, Science-Math and Urdu Teacher posts under JKSSB Advertisement Notification No. 06 of 2017.
The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued temporary appointment orders for 19 candidates selected for the posts of General Teacher, Science-Math Teacher and Urdu Teacher in the School Education Department across various district cadres of Kashmir Division. The appointments have been made under JKSSB Advertisement Notification No. 06 of 2017 dated December 28, 2017, following the issuance of Order No. 264-DSEK of 2026 dated July 20, 2026.
Appointment Order Issued by DSEK
According to the official order, the Administrative Department had initially referred 2,154 teacher posts (including 1,864 posts belonging to Kashmir Division) to the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB). These vacancies were advertised through Notification No. 06 of 2017 dated December 28, 2017.
The document states that the Administrative Department subsequently forwarded the list of 1,864 recommended candidates to DSEK for issuing appointment orders. However, recommendations relating to certain select and wait-listed candidates remained pending due to issues concerning overlapping qualifications. A committee was constituted to examine the matter, following which recommendations for 49 candidates were accepted and released through various Service Selection Board orders.
Revalidation of Wait List
The order explains that the validity of the select and wait list was nearing expiry, prompting DSEK to approach the Administrative Department regarding revalidation of the wait list against vacancies created due to the non-joining of some selected candidates. Subsequently, approval was conveyed by the competent authority for the revalidation of select and wait list candidates beyond the original expiry period.
The document further notes that appointment orders had already been issued in favour of 49 candidates during 2024 after the receipt of satisfactory Character and Antecedents Reports. Later, the Administrative Department advised DSEK to revise the proposal in accordance with the competent authority’s decision and revisit the list of candidates for careful examination before revalidation.
Revised Merit List and Committee Review
Following the Administrative Department’s observations, the matter was reviewed after the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board submitted a reconciled merit list. A committee constituted by JKSSB examined the select and waiting lists, after which a final report was submitted to the Administrative Department.
Based on the committee’s recommendations and the reconciled merit list, approval was conveyed by the Administrative Department on June 16, 2026, for issuing appointment orders in favour of 57 candidates under the prescribed norms.
District-wise Distribution
The official order includes the district-wise distribution of the approved candidates. According to the approved list, 57 candidates received revalidation approval, comprising:
- General Teacher: 35 candidates
- Science-Math Teacher: 16 candidates
- Urdu Teacher: 6 candidates
The approved candidates belong to the district cadres of Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Shopian and Srinagar.
Temporary Appointment for 19 Candidates
The order states that DSEK had earlier directed the approved candidates to submit their testimonials, descriptive rolls and Character & Antecedents forms. Out of the 57 candidates, 36 reported within the stipulated period, and satisfactory Character and Antecedents Reports were received for 19 candidates from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Accordingly, DSEK has issued temporary appointment orders for these 19 candidates against the posts of General Teacher, Science-Math Teacher and Urdu Teacher in the School Education Department. The appointments are in Pay Level-05 (₹29,200–₹92,300), with adjustments made across different districts of Kashmir Division.
Joining and Conditions
The appointed candidates have been directed to report to the office of the concerned Chief Education Officer within 21 days from the date of issuance of the appointment order. They must produce original documents for verification, including academic qualification certificates, date of birth certificate, health certificate, domicile certificate, no-loan certificate under the Self Employment Scheme, and an undertaking regarding the absence of criminal records.
The order also specifies that appointments will be cancelled if any qualification certificates or other documents are found to be fake or forged during verification. Salary will be released only after satisfactory verification of qualifications and related documents. Candidates failing to join within the stipulated period will have their appointments treated as cancelled. The appointees will remain on probation for two years, while seniority will be regulated under the applicable rules.
