Weather Update for Jammu and Kashmir: Heavy Rainfall, Flash Flood Warning Issued
July 29, 2025 — The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued an important weather forecast and advisory for Jammu and Kashmir covering the period from July 29th to August 6th, 2025. Residents are urged to stay alert as varying weather conditions are expected across the Union Territory.
Forecast Details:
- July 29–31:
The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with the possibility of intermittent light to moderate rainfall at many places. Intense showers accompanied by gusty winds may occur at a few locations.
The Jammu Division — including Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Kathua, Rajouri, and Samba — may witness heavy to very heavy rain, mainly during late night and early morning hours. - August 1–3:
The region is likely to experience generally hot and humid weather conditions. However, a brief spell of rain or thundershowers may occur at some places. - August 4–6:
A fresh spell of light to moderate rain or thundershowers is predicted for many areas during this period.
Advisory Issued:
The MeT Centre has cautioned the public about possible intense showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds between July 29 and 31. There is also a risk of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated to scattered places in the Jammu Division.
Due to these weather conditions, there is an increased likelihood of:
- Flash floods in vulnerable areas
- Landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in hilly regions
- A rise in water levels in rivers and streams
- Waterlogging in some low-lying areas of Jammu Division
Residents and travelers are advised to remain cautious, especially in flood-prone and slide-prone areas, and to follow updates from local authorities and the Meteorological Department.
