India Optel Limited Recruitment Salary
The Junior Project Engineer positions carry Pay Level ₹30,000–₹1,20,000. The remuneration package also includes Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA).
House Rent Allowance is available at applicable rates where company accommodation is not allotted. The advertisement also provides for a medical allowance of ₹1,500 per month. For retired Government employees and Ex-Servicemen, the notification specifies requirements concerning NOC from CGHS, ECHS or Defence Forces for eligibility for the stated medical expense payment.
An annual increment at the rate of 3 per cent of basic pay, rounded off to the next ₹10, may be granted during the tenure. The increment is subject to satisfactory performance assessment and recommendation by the Competent Authority.
The IDA component is subject to revision from time to time in accordance with notifications issued by the Department of Public Enterprises for Central Public Sector Enterprises.
Contract Period and Tenure
The engagement is initially for a fixed term of up to two years, depending on the requirement of the company. The notification states that the engagement generally will not continue beyond the initial period unless there is a cogent reason for extension.
An extension of up to one year or less at a time may be granted subject to the stated conditions, including functional requirement, performance assessment and approval of the Competent Authority. The advertisement also states that the total period of engagement will be up to five years, including the initial engagement and extensions.
India Optel Limited reserves the right to terminate an existing contract before completion of the initial two-year period or during an extension if performance is found unsatisfactory or in cases of misconduct, subject to approval of the Competent Authority.
The notification also states that any extension must have sufficient justification with respect to project or functional requirements and the individual’s satisfactory work performance. Personnel granted an extension will continue in the same pay level in which they were initially engaged.
Job Responsibilities
The Junior Project Engineers may be assigned production and shop-floor activities as part of their duties.
The job description includes production-related quality work and laboratory-related responsibilities. Depending on the position, candidates may be required to perform Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Metallurgical or Chemical laboratory work.
The notification also provides that employees may be assigned any other activities by higher authorities from time to time.
The principal places of posting are the Opto Electronics Factory (OLF) and Ordnance Factory Dehradun (OFD), both units of India Optel Limited located at Dehradun. However, depending on functional requirements, an engaged individual may be posted, transferred, attached or deputed to another location for official work with the permission of the Competent Authority.
Selection Process
The selection process begins with screening of applications by a Screening Committee constituted for the purpose. Eligible applicants will be shortlisted for interview.
The company may adopt higher criteria if a large number of applicants meet the basic eligibility requirements. Shortlisting for interview will be carried out up to two times the number of vacancies and will be based on the percentage of marks obtained in the Diploma. For the B.Sc.-based posts, the prescribed selection framework refers to the percentage in Diploma/B.Sc. for the final merit calculation.
Only shortlisted candidates will be interviewed. The final merit will be prepared using a weighted score in which 75 per cent weightage is assigned to the percentage obtained in Diploma/B.Sc., while 25 per cent weightage is given to performance in the personal interview.
Original certificates will be verified before the personal interview. Any shortcoming identified during document verification may result in rejection of the candidature.
If two or more candidates secure the same score, the candidates will be empanelled according to their date of birth, with the older candidate placed first. If their dates of birth are also the same, the order of merit will be determined alphabetically by name.
The management retains the authority to increase or reduce the number of advertised vacancies and may raise or reduce minimum eligibility standards or shortlisting criteria. Any such change in vacancies is to be notified on the company website.
Interview and Document Verification
Provisional call letters for the personal interview will be issued to shortlisted eligible candidates through email only.
The notification makes it clear that requests for changing the interview date, venue or time will not be entertained. It also states that no virtual or online interview will be conducted.
Candidates must bring the required documents along with their original certificates for verification at the time of the interview.
The final selection will be made according to the final merit order. The result will be published on the India Optel Limited website, and selected candidates will also be informed through email.

Nature of Employment
The recruitment is strictly for fixed-term contractual engagement. The notification specifies that the appointment will not provide any entitlement or claim to regular or permanent employment in India Optel Limited in the future.
The engagement is described as temporary and ad hoc and is intended to meet temporary functional requirements. A person engaged under the arrangement will not have a lien or right against any post in IOL and cannot claim regularisation or permanent employment during or after the contract period.

For all five advertised positions, the required work experience must be relevant to the post and must be acquired after obtaining the prescribed qualification.
The notification states that academic teaching or research, experience in non-profit organisations, and internship or project placements that form part of an academic curriculum will not be treated as qualifying experience.
Experience obtained before completion of the required qualification will also not count as relevant post-qualification experience.
On-the-job training undertaken as a Management Trainee, Executive Trainee or Graduate Trainee in a PSU after acquiring the requisite qualification may be considered for determining post-qualification work experience.
Candidates who are currently employed must provide an NOC from their employer on or before appearing for the interview and must submit a proper relieving letter when accepting the engagement offer or joining IOL.

Candidates must provide documentary evidence to establish the required work experience.
For past employment, the experience certificate should contain details such as joining date, relieving date, last pay drawn, pay scale, duration of employment, nature of duties, specific areas of experience, relevant fields and projects handled. Medical Fitness and Character Verification
Selection and engagement are subject to medical fitness. Email and Mobile Communication
Candidates must provide a valid email ID and mobile number in the application form and keep both active until the entire engagement process is completed.
IOL will not be responsible for an email bouncing or being lost because of an incorrect email address, delivery to a spam or bulk-mail folder, delay in accessing email or failure by the candidate to check the website or email in time.
