Who Can Apply?
Applications are invited from unmarried Indian male and female sportspersons who have participated in:

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed:
- Matriculation (10th Pass)
This is the minimum educational qualification required for both Direct Entry Havildar and Direct Entry Naib Subedar.
Age Limit
Candidates should be between:
- 17½ years to 25 years
Eligible Date of Birth:
30 September 2001 to 1 October 2008 (inclusive).
Sports Achievement Criteria
For Direct Entry Havildar
Candidates should have:
- Won medals at Junior or Senior National Championships representing a State, or
- Represented India internationally, or
- Represented a State or India in team events, or
- Won medals in Khelo India Games, Khelo India Youth Games, or Khelo India University Games.
For Direct Entry Naib Subedar
Applicants should have one of the following achievements:
- Medal in World Championship
- Medal in Asian Championship
- Medal in Asian Games
- Medal in Commonwealth Games
- Medal in World Cup
- Represented India twice in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, or World Cup
- Represented India in the Olympics.
Women Candidates
Women candidates fulfilling the same eligibility criteria are also eligible to apply under the Sports Quota.
Physical Standards
Male
Height varies according to region.
Examples:
- Jammu & Kashmir (Western Himalayan): 163 cm
- Ladakh: 157 cm
- Gorkhas: 157 cm
- Western Plains: 170 cm
Weight must be proportionate to height and age according to Army standards.
Female
- Height: 162 cm
- Weight: As per Army norms
- Chest Expansion: 5 cm
Certain categories such as North East candidates, Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Ladakhis, and recognized tribal candidates receive a height relaxation of 4 cm.
Physical Fitness Test
Male
Candidates must qualify:
- 1.6 km Run in 5 minutes 45 seconds
- 9 Feet Ditch
- Zig-Zag Balance Test
Female
Candidates must qualify:
- 1.6 km Run in 8 minutes
- 10 Feet Long Jump
- 3 Feet High Jump
Exceptional sportspersons may receive relaxation in physical standards where applicable.
Medical Standards
Candidates qualifying the sports trial and physical tests will undergo a detailed medical examination by the Army Medical Team.
Medical fitness is mandatory for final selection. Candidates found temporarily unfit may be referred to a Military Hospital for review within the prescribed timeline.
