ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu, has issued Advertisement No. IPRC/RMT/2026/01 dated September 12, 2026, inviting online applications for 22 vacancies in various posts. The recruitment covers Technical Assistant, Technician ‘B’, Cook ‘A’ and Fireman ‘A’ positions.
The IPRC is a lead unit of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) working in liquid propulsion for ISRO’s launch vehicle and spacecraft programmes. Its activities include propulsion-system research and development, assembly and testing of engines and stages, high-altitude testing, propellant production and technology development programmes.
ISRO IPRC Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details
The recruitment notification provides a total of 22 vacancies across different technical and support posts. The vacancies include one Technical Assistant position in Automobile Engineering, three Technical Assistant positions in Mechanical Engineering, and one Technical Assistant position in Electronics and Communication-related disciplines.
The notification also includes two Technician ‘B’ vacancies for Turners, four for Fitters, two for Welders, three for Machinists, one for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, and one for Electricians. In addition, there is one vacancy for Cook ‘A’ and three vacancies for Fireman ‘A’. The reservation details specified in the notification include UR, OBC, SC, ST and EWS categories, with certain vacancies earmarked for Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities where applicable.
Educational Qualification
For the Technical Assistant posts under post codes 60 to 62, candidates are required to possess a First Class Diploma in the relevant discipline. The Automobile Engineering post requires a Diploma in Automobile Engineering, while the Mechanical post requires a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering. The Electronics and Communication position accepts specified diplomas in Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.
For Technician ‘B’ posts, applicants must have passed SSLC, SSC, Matriculation or 10th Standard and possess the relevant ITI qualification with NTC from NCVT or NAC from NCVT. The required trade must correspond to the post, including Turner, Fitter, Welder, Machinist, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, or Electrician.
Candidates applying for Cook ‘A’ must have passed SSLC/SSC/Matriculation/10th Standard and have five years of experience as a Cook in a well-established hotel or canteen. The notification specifies that the experience certificate must be issued by the concerned established hotel or canteen and submitted during the Skill Test; certificates issued by individuals will not be accepted.
For Fireman ‘A’, applicants must have passed SSLC/SSC/Matriculation/10th Standard, satisfy the prescribed physical fitness standards and upload the Preliminary Medical Examination Certificate along with the online application.
Salary and Pay Level
The Technical Assistant posts under codes 60 to 62 carry Pay Level 7, with a pay range of Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400. The notification also provides for applicable allowances, including Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance, subject to the stated conditions. Other facilities mentioned include medical facilities for employees and dependents, subsidized canteen facilities, transport or departmental housing subject to applicable rules, Leave Travel Concession and House Building Advance.
Technician ‘B’ posts under codes 63 to 68 are placed in Pay Level 3, carrying Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100. Cook ‘A’ and Fireman ‘A’ are placed in Pay Level 2, carrying Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200.
Age Limit
For post codes 60 to 68 and 70, the prescribed age is 18 to 35 years as on October 5, 2026. For Fireman ‘A’ under post code 71, the age limit is 18 to 25 years as on October 5, 2026.
Age relaxation is applicable to eligible SC/ST and OBC applicants where the post is reserved for the respective category. The notification also provides for applicable upper-age relaxation for serving government employees, Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, widows, divorced women, women judicially separated from their husbands who have not remarried, and meritorious sportspersons, in accordance with Government of India orders.
Selection Process
For Technical Assistant, Technician ‘B’ and Cook ‘A’, selection involves a Written Test followed by a Skill Test. For Fireman ‘A’, the process consists of a Written Test, Physical Efficiency Test and Detailed Medical Examination. The notification states that final selection is based on Written Test scores, while the Skill Test is qualifying in nature for the applicable posts.
For Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’, the Written Test will contain 80 multiple-choice questions and will have a duration of 90 minutes. Each correct answer carries one mark, while 0.33 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The minimum qualifying score is 32 out of 80 for UR applicants and 24 out of 80 for applicants belonging to reserved categories wherever the post is reserved for the respective category.
The Skill Test for these posts will be conducted on a ‘GO/NO-GO’ basis. It will carry 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying requirement of 50 marks for UR candidates and 40 marks for eligible reserved-category candidates. Candidates qualifying in the Written Test will be shortlisted for the Skill Test in a 1:5 ratio, with a minimum of 10 applicants for a post.
Written Test Centres
The Written Test will be conducted through the offline OMR method at Tirunelveli and Chennai. Applicants must select their preferred examination city while submitting the online application, and the notification states that the choice cannot subsequently be changed. IPRC, however, reserves the right to change or cancel a centre and reallocate applicants because of unforeseen or administrative reasons.
Fireman ‘A’ Physical Requirements
Candidates for Fireman ‘A’ must satisfy specified physical fitness standards and undergo a Physical Efficiency Test. The notification prescribes standards covering height, weight, Body Mass Index, waist-to-hip ratio, chest measurements, vision, hearing and other medical parameters.
The Physical Efficiency Test is conducted in two stages. Stage 1 includes running events, while Stage 2 includes rope climbing, carrying a human dummy, long jump and a 100-metre run. The prescribed qualifying standards vary according to age, gender category and the applicable classification. Shoes with spikes are not permitted for the running events.
Applicants who qualify in the PET and Detailed Medical Examination are considered for empanelment in the order of Written Test marks. Selected candidates for Fireman ‘A’ are required to stay in Essential Staff Quarters at IPRC.
Application Dates and Process
Online registration will begin on September 15, 2026, at 10:00 Hrs and close on October 5, 2026, at 16:00 Hrs. Applications will be accepted online only through the Careers page of the IPRC website. Physical applications, emails, biodata, resumes and CV submissions will not be entertained.
Applicants must provide a correct and active email ID because further communication regarding the Written Test and Skill Test will be made through email. Candidates are also required to upload a recent photograph and signature in the prescribed format. The photograph and signature must be in JPEG format with a maximum file size of 1 MB each, while the signature should have an aspect ratio of 7:2.
The required educational, identity, category and other supporting certificates vary according to the post. For Fireman ‘A’, the Preliminary Medical Examination Certificate is among the documents required. Uploaded documents must be clear, and the prescribed PDF/JPEG files must not exceed 1 MB.
Application Fee and Refund
For post codes 60 to 62, the application fee is Rs. 750. For post codes 63 to 68 and 70 to 71, the fee is Rs. 500. Payment is accepted online through the SBI e-Payment gateway using Internet Banking, domestic debit cards, domestic credit cards or UPI.
The notification provides for refunds to candidates who appear in the Written Test. For post codes 60 to 62, eligible female, SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and PwBD candidates are entitled to a full refund, while other eligible candidates receive Rs. 500 after applicable bank charges. For post codes 63 to 68 and 70 to 71, the corresponding refund is the full Rs. 500 for eligible categories and Rs. 400 for other candidates, subject to the stated conditions.
Important Recruitment Conditions
Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply. The posts are described as temporary in nature but are likely to continue indefinitely. Candidates must possess the prescribed qualifications and experience by the closing date of the online application, October 5, 2026.
The initial place of posting will be IPRC at Mahendragiri in Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu. However, selected candidates may be posted at any ISRO Centre or Unit or Department of Space location anywhere in India as required.
Candidates applying for more than one post must submit separate applications and pay the application fee separately for each application. Women applicants are encouraged to apply. Candidates must also produce the original documents supporting the information provided in their online application during the Skill Test.
