Srinagar, July 29: The Meteorological Centre (MET), Srinagar, has forecast continued wet weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with intermittent spells of rain and thunderstorms expected until August 7. The department has also warned of the possibility of heavy rain, brief intense showers, flash floods, landslides, and mudslides, particularly in vulnerable areas of the Jammu Division.
Significant Rainfall Recorded in Past 24 Hours
According to the MET Centre, several areas of the Jammu Division received substantial rainfall during the last 24 hours.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Samba with 87 mm, followed by Katra with 71.2 mm, Udhampur with 65 mm, and Jammu with 52 mm.
Weather Forecast for July 29 to July 31
The weather department has predicted few spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at most places across Jammu and Kashmir during this period.
There is also a possibility of brief intense heavy showers or torrential rain at a few places in the Jammu Division, mainly during the early morning, morning, late afternoon, and evening hours.
In the Kashmir Division, a few locations may also witness brief spells of intense showers during the same period.
Forecast for August 1 to August 2
From August 1 to August 2, many places across Jammu and Kashmir are likely to experience one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers, with the possibility of brief intense showers at isolated locations.
Weather Outlook for August 3 to August 5
The MET Centre has forecast few spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places during this period.
The department has also indicated the possibility of heavy rain, brief intense heavy showers, or torrential rain over a few districts of the Jammu Division.
Meanwhile, some places in the Kashmir Division may also receive brief spells of intense rainfall.
Forecast for August 6 to August 7
During August 6 and 7, the region is expected to witness one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places, accompanied by brief intense showers.

The Meteorological Centre has advised that a few districts of the Jammu Division may experience heavy rainfall or brief intense showers over the next five days.
It has further cautioned that torrential rain and brief intense heavy showers between July 29 and August 2 could trigger flash floods, landslides, and mudslides at many vulnerable locations.
