J N Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship 2026–27: Get Up to ₹20 Lakh for Higher Studies Abroad
Indian students who dream of pursuing higher education abroad now have a great opportunity. The J N Tata Endowment has invited applications for its Loan Scholarship for Fall 2026–Spring 2027. This scholarship aims to support talented Indian students planning to pursue postgraduate, doctoral, or postdoctoral studies overseas.
The program offers financial assistance of up to ₹20 lakh and may also include additional travel grants or gift awards based on the student’s academic performance abroad.
About the J N Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship
The J N Tata Endowment has been supporting Indian students for higher education overseas for decades. Through this scholarship, the Trust provides loan-based financial assistance to deserving candidates who demonstrate strong academic potential and a clear plan to study at recognised international universities.
Selected candidates may also receive:
- Partial Travel Grant
- Gift Award based on academic performance abroad
These additional benefits are awarded at the discretion of the trustees.
Eligibility Criteria
Students must meet the following requirements to apply:
- Must be an Indian citizen
- Must have completed an undergraduate degree or be in the final year of graduation
- Should be planning to pursue postgraduate, doctoral, or postdoctoral studies abroad
- The course must be in a recognised graduate program at an international university
- Must have secured minimum 60% average marks in undergraduate or postgraduate studies
- Applicant must not be older than 45 years as of 30 June 2026
Additional Conditions
- Candidates not selected earlier or those who could not avail the scholarship previously can apply again.
- Students already studying abroad can apply:
- At the end of their first year, or
- At the beginning of the second year
- At least one full academic year (12 months) should remain when the scholarship is awarded (usually in July).
- Students on CPT or OPT must have at least two semesters or three quarters remaining.

- Loan Scholarship up to ₹20 lakh
- Possibility of a Travel Grant
- Chance to receive a Gift Award based on academic performance
This support helps students cover major expenses such as tuition fees, travel costs, and living expenses abroad.
