Srinagar, July 25: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting intermittent rain and thundershowers across the Union Territory over the coming days. The department has also warned of heavy to briefly intense rainfall at a few places in Jammu Division between July 28 and 31, along with the possibility of flash floods, landslides and mudslides at vulnerable locations.

According to the latest weather update, rain is currently occurring at many places across Jammu and Kashmir.

Weather Forecast for July 25

The current spell of rain affecting most parts of Kashmir Division and many areas of Jammu Division is likely to continue intermittently until late afternoon on Saturday.

Weather conditions are expected to gradually improve thereafter, providing some respite from the ongoing rainfall.

Although widespread continuous heavy rainfall has not been indicated for the entire region, residents and travellers should remain cautious, particularly in areas vulnerable to landslides, shooting stones and sudden increases in water levels.

J&K Weather Forecast for July 26–27

For July 26 and 27, the Meteorological Centre has predicted one or two spells of rain or thundershowers at many places across Jammu and Kashmir.

A few locations in Jammu Division may experience brief intense showers, particularly during the afternoon and evening as well as the early morning and morning hours.

Localized intense rainfall can cause rapid accumulation of water and may affect vulnerable roads and low-lying areas.

Heavy Rain Possible From July 28 to 31

Weather activity is expected to increase again between July 28 and July 31.

According to the forecast, one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at most places across Jammu and Kashmir during this period.

There is also a possibility of heavy rain or brief intense heavy showers in a few districts of Jammu Division.

The more intense spells may occur particularly during the late-night to morning hours and again during the afternoon and evening.

Weather Advisory Issued for Jammu and Kashmir

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has advised residents, tourists, travellers and transporters to remain cautious over the next several days.

The key concerns include:

• Heavy rain or brief intense heavy showers in a few districts of Jammu Division from July 28 to 31.
• Possibility of flash floods, landslides and mudslides at some vulnerable locations during the next five days.
• Travellers and transporters should exercise caution while using highways and roads passing through landslide-prone areas.
• The general public, tourists and travellers have been advised to follow advisories issued by the local administration.

People living close to vulnerable slopes, streams and other flood-prone locations should remain attentive to local weather conditions, especially during periods of intense rainfall.

Improvement Expected Later Today

For July 25, the immediate forecast suggests that the ongoing rainfall will continue intermittently across many areas until the late afternoon before conditions begin improving.

However, unsettled weather will persist during the following days, with another period of more widespread rain expected from July 28 onwards.
