The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially declared the result of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination 2025-26 for Class VIII students across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the result notification issued by the JKBOSE Academic Division on August 20, 2026, the NMMSS examination for Class VIII students was conducted on July 10, 2026, across J&K. The Board has also made available the list of selected candidates as Annexure A to the notification.
The announcement is important for students who have been selected under the scholarship scheme, as they are now required to complete the next stage of the process through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
JKBOSE NMMSS Result 2025-26 Declared
JKBOSE stated that the final result of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme 2025-26 in respect of Jammu and Kashmir has been released. The detailed list forms part of Annexure A attached to the result notification.
The annexure contains details of the selected students, including their names, NMMSS roll numbers, dates of birth, father’s names, categories, gender, examination year, marks obtained and district details. The published list includes candidates from districts across the Union Territory.
The marks table records performance under MAT and SAT along with the combined total. For example, Muzamal Ahmed from Poonch secured a total of 169 marks, while Urooj Iqbal from Budgam also recorded 169 marks. Sadaf Iqbal from Poonch secured 168 marks, followed by Ovais Mushtaq from Kishtwar and Aadnan Basharat Baba from Bandipora, both with 167 marks.
The list also includes students from districts such as Pulwama, Anantnag, Kishtwar, Budgam, Bandipora, Kupwara, Baramulla and Srinagar, among others.
Selected Students Must Apply on National Scholarship Portal
Following the declaration of the result, JKBOSE has directed all selected students to apply online through the National Scholarship Portal.
The Board said selected candidates must register themselves online within the stipulated time and follow the prescribed guidelines and instructions available on the NSP. Students have also been advised to exercise particular care while entering their information during the registration process.
JKBOSE specifically stated that the information entered during online registration should be accurate because it cannot be altered after completion of the registration process.
This makes it important for selected candidates to carefully verify their personal and academic details before completing the fresh registration on the portal.
Eligibility to Be Verified During the Process
The notification also places responsibility on the concerned Chief Education Officers, who are designated District Nodal Officers for the NMMS scheme.
JKBOSE has directed these officers to ensure that selected candidates fulfil the eligibility conditions prescribed under the scheme.
The Board has further clarified that if any selected candidate is found to be ineligible for the scholarship during online verification by the concerned institutions or District Nodal Officers, the selection of that candidate will be treated as cancelled ab initio.
Therefore, selection in the published result list remains subject to the required eligibility verification and the prescribed scholarship process.
Application ID and Password After Fresh Registration
The JKBOSE notification also explains the next steps after a selected student completes fresh registration on the National Scholarship Portal.
After completion of the online fresh registration process, an application ID and password will be generated for the concerned candidate.
The candidate can then use the first-time login facility to fill out the online application for the release of the scholarship under the NMMSS scheme. For this process, the student will have to enter the One-Time Password (OTP) sent by the NSP to the registered mobile number.
Students are therefore required to keep access to their registered mobile number available during the online application process.
JKBOSE Issues Contact Details for Queries
For assistance related to the online registration process, schools or students facing issues while handling the National Scholarship Portal can approach the designated Nodal Officers of the scheme at JKBOSE.
The notification mentions the JKBOSE offices at Rehari Colony, Jammu, and the New Campus at Bemina, Srinagar, for queries related to the scheme.
JKBOSE has provided the contact numbers 0191-2955660 and 0194-2490354 for queries concerning online registration of students, schools and issues related to handling the NSP.
