The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released Advertisement Notification No. 08 of 2026, dated August 4, 2026, inviting online applications for 518 UT, Divisional, and District Cadre posts in various government departments across Jammu and Kashmir. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online from September 10, 2026, while the last date to complete the registration process is October 9, 2026.

JKSSB Announces 518 Vacancies

According to the notification, JKSSB has received recruitment indents from multiple departments for direct recruitment against a total of 518 vacancies.

The department-wise distribution of posts is as follows:

  • Health and Medical Education Department: 421 posts
  • Higher Education Department: 48 posts
  • Agriculture Production Department: 46 posts
  • Labour and Employment Department: 3 posts

The Board has invited eligible candidates to participate in the recruitment process by submitting online application forms within the prescribed schedule.

Important Dates

Candidates planning to apply should note the following important dates mentioned in the notification:

  • Advertisement Notification: August 4, 2026
  • Online application commencement: September 10, 2026
  • Last date to submit online application forms: October 9, 2026

Applicants are advised to complete their registration well before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical issues.

Eligibility and Domicile Requirement

The notification states that applicants must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Candidates are required to possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority on or before the last date of submission of online applications, unless the deadline is officially extended.

The Board has also clarified that appointments of selected candidates will be governed by the applicable service rules and regulations of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

Age Criteria

JKSSB has prescribed the age limits as on January 1, 2026.

For Open Merit candidates, the maximum age limit is 40 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit has been provided for various reserved categories including SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS and OBC candidates, while separate provisions have been notified for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Ex-Servicemen as per the applicable rules.

Educational Qualification

The notification states that educational qualifications vary according to the post and are detailed in Annexure-A.

Candidates shortlisted for document verification must produce original certificates proving that they possessed the prescribed qualification on or before the cut-off date for submission of online applications.

The Board has also stated that candidature will remain provisional until verification of educational qualifications and other required documents is completed by the appointing authority.

Reservation Policy

Reservation for the advertised posts will be implemented according to the category-wise breakup communicated by the indenting departments and in accordance with the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act and Rules, as amended from time to time.

Candidates claiming reservation must possess valid category certificates in the prescribed format before the cut-off date and upload the relevant documents while submitting the online application. The notification states that applications supported by certificates not issued in the prescribed format may be rejected.

Application Fee

The application fee has been fixed as follows:

  • ₹600 for General category candidates.
  • ₹500 for candidates belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD categories.

The fee can only be paid through online modes, including Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card. The Board has clarified that the application fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Selection Process

JKSSB has informed that the selection process will primarily be based on an Objective Type Written Examination consisting of multiple-choice questions.

The question paper will be available only in the English language.

The Board has also specified that negative marking will apply, with one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question being deducted for every incorrect response.

The syllabus for the advertised posts will be notified separately on the official website.

Document Verification

Candidates shortlisted after the written examination will be called for Document Verification.

During this stage, applicants must produce original certificates related to educational qualification, domicile, reservation category and any other documents required for the respective post.

Failure to produce the required documents in original or failure to appear on the scheduled date may result in cancellation of candidature.

Important Instructions for Candidates

The Board has advised candidates to read the advertisement notification carefully before applying.

Applicants should ensure that all details entered in the online application form are accurate, as requests for corrections after submission will not be entertained.

Candidates are also advised to upload clear photographs, signatures and supporting documents in the prescribed format. They should retain a printed copy of the submitted application form for future reference and produce it during document verification if required.

JKSSB has further stated that examination dates, centres and admit card details will be announced separately through its official website.
