Initiative aims to improve education quality through stakeholder feedback under NEP 2020

Baramulla, Aug 9 (JKNS): On the directions of the Chief Education Officer Baramulla, a district-wide series of mass Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) is being held across all government schools in the district from August 9 to September 5, 2025.

Speaking to reporters at Government Higher Secondary School Dangerpora in Sopore, DEPO Baramulla Tariq Ahmad Kanjwal as per news agency JKNS said the initiative was officially launched at the school on Saturday. “All government schools in Baramulla district will participate in this mass PTM, which will conclude on Teachers’ Day,” he said.

Kanjwal explained that during the meetings, district administration officials, parents, teachers, members of civil society, and School Management Committees will engage in discussions aimed at improving the quality of education in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

He noted that following the nationwide implementation of NEP 2020, several new measures were necessary to strengthen school education. “The mass PTM is one such initiative, designed to gather valuable feedback from stakeholders for continuous improvement. We have adopted the slogan ‘Your village is your school,’ which reflects NEP 2020’s emphasis on education rooted in language, culture, and values,” he added.

The DEPO expressed hope for active participation from parents and civil society members in these meetings. He also announced that PTMs will now be held monthly in all government schools in Kashmir to review achievements and identify areas for further progress.

Highlighting the importance of the first mass PTM at Government Higher Secondary School Dangerpora, Kanjwal said the historic institution has produced students who have gone on to become doctors and excel in multiple fields. “Feedback gathered during these PTMs will help refine and strengthen our education system, enabling students to compete effectively at both national and state levels,” he said.
