Traffic Advisory for Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and Other Routes – July 13, 2025

The Traffic Police Headquarters, Jammu & Kashmir has issued an important traffic advisory for July 13, 2025, regarding vehicular movement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other connecting routes in view of road conditions, breakdowns, and the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.

⚠️ Traffic Update from 11th to 12th July 2025:

  • NH-44 experienced slow traffic movement due to:
    • Breakdown of 5 Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs)
    • Single-lane traffic at Nashri-Dalwas and Marog-Kishtwari Pather

🪪 ID Verification Advisory:

Commuters traveling to or from Reasi, Katra, Udhampur, Patnitop, Doda, and Ramban are requested to carry valid photo ID proof, especially if traveling after cutoff timings from Jammu/Udhampur. This is to facilitate identification and smooth movement.


🚗 General Travel Guidelines:

  1. Passenger vehicles/LMVs are advised to travel during daylight hours due to possible shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
  2. Goods carriers (HMVs/LMVs) carrying fresh perishables/live stock must follow official loading advisories. Poor road conditions persist at Nashri-Dalwas and Marog-Kishtwari Pather.
  3. Fruit growers and load carriers transporting fresh produce from the Valley to Jammu must load and park their vehicles daily before 9:00 AM at the designated space between NAVYUG Tunnel and Levdoora.
  4. All HMV operators are urged to:
    • Avoid overloading
    • Carry sufficient fuel
    • Ensure vehicle fitness before travel on NH-44
  5. Only HMVs with 6 and 10 tyres will be allowed via Dhar road.
  6. Avoid unnecessary stops near landslide/shooting stone zones between Ramban and Banihal.

🚦 Traffic Plan for 13th July 2025:

Subject to fair weather and road conditions:

  • Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra Convoy, LMVs, passenger/private vehicles will be allowed from both directions (Jammu ⇄ Srinagar).
  • HMVs will be allowed on alternate days.
  • Traffic Control Units (TCU) Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing any movement.

📍 Cut-Off Timings for LMVs/Passenger Vehicles:

Jakheni (Udhampur) → Srinagar07:00 AM – 01:00 PM
Qazigund → Jammu11:30 AM – 02:00 PM

Note: No vehicle will be allowed to move before or after cut-off timings.


🚛 HMV/Load Carrier Movement:

  • Subject to weather/road condition, HMVs will be allowed from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund) → Jammu after proper assessment.
  • No HMV allowed after 07:00 PM.
  • As per Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s advisory (No. Divcom/Dev/120/2025/7055-75 dated 01-07-2025):
    • All fuel tankers, empty LPG trucks, FCI empty vehicles, and 10-tyre or smaller trucks must return to Jammu via Mughal Road.

🚙 Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244:

  • LMVs and HPSVs allowed from both sides, depending on clearance by NHIDCL.
    • Anantnag → Kishtwar: 08:00 AM – 04:00 PM
    • Kishtwar → Anantnag: 09:00 AM – 03:00 PM
  • HMVs not permitted, except designated HPSVs as per SDM orders.

🛣️ SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari):

  • Regulated traffic subject to BRO clearance.
    • Minamarg → Srinagar: 05:00 AM – 10:00 AM (LMVs, then HMVs)
    • Sonamarg → Kargil: 11:30 AM – 05:30 PM (LMVs, then HMVs)
  • Vehicles must strictly adhere to cut-off timings.
  • Security Force convoys must plan to avoid disturbing Yatra convoys.

🌄 Mughal Road:

  • LMVs allowed from both sides (Jammu ⇄ Srinagar via Poonch).
  • HMVs (upto 10 tyres) allowed Shopian → Poonch only, from 07:00 AM – 06:00 PM.
