Traffic Advisory for Jammu & Kashmir: Vehicle Movement Plan for June 30, 2025
The Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, has issued an important advisory regarding vehicle movement on major highways across the region due to ongoing construction works, landslides, and weather conditions.
NH-44 Jammu-Srinagar Update (28–29 June 2025)
Traffic was observed moving slowly due to heavy vehicle breakdowns, single-lane stretches at Dalwas, Peeda, Mehad, Marog, and Kishtwari Pather, and ongoing four-lane construction. Traffic is being regulated at key choke points like Mehad, Cafeteria, and Ramban.
Commuters are urged to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking or driving in the wrong lane, especially where vehicles from the opposite direction are in motion.
Travel during daylight is strongly recommended for passenger vehicles, particularly between Ramban and Banihal, due to the risk of shooting stones.
Goods carriers carrying perishable items or livestock are advised to strictly follow existing advisories due to the poor road conditions and single-lane restrictions at several points along the highway.
Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) operators are advised to avoid overloading and ensure their vehicles are fit for travel. Sufficient fuel should be carried before starting the journey.
Only 6 and 10-tyre HMVs will be permitted to use the Dhar Road.
Commuters should avoid unnecessary halts, particularly near landslide-prone areas between Ramban and Banihal.
