Trump confirms US-Iran deal ‘complete,’ says Strait of Hormuz to open, US blockade to end

Washington June 15:(AP)
Shortly after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announces that the US and Iran have reached a “peace deal,” US President Donald Trump confirms that the agreement between the countries is “complete.”

He adds that he has “authorized the toll free opening” the Strait of Hormuz, the artery for the global oil supply that Iran has blocked during the war. It is unclear from the post if Iran has agreed to let maritime traffic flow through the strait without charging a toll.

Trump adds that, simultaneous with the strait opening, the US blockade of Iranian ports will end.

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” he posts on Truth Social.

“Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

Sharif had written in his announcement that the deal includes as ceasefire in the conflict in Lebanon between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group. Trump does not reference that conflict in his statement.
