Weather Update J&K: August 22–30, 2025 | IMD Issues Advisory

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh weather bulletin predicting varied weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir between 22nd and 30th August 2025, including hot and humid spells, rain, thunderstorms, and the possibility of intense showers in certain regions.

Forecast Details

  • 22 August 2025:
    Daytime weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid. However, a spell of rain or thundershowers may occur in the late evening or night. There is also a possibility of isolated moderate to heavy rainfall over Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Kathua, and Samba districts.
  • 23–26 August 2025:
    Widespread weather activity is expected, with light to moderate rain/thundershowers at many places.

    • Heavy rain is likely at isolated locations across Jammu division, especially Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Samba, Kathua, and Rajouri.
    • Moderate to heavy/intense showers may lash Poonch, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, and the southern parts of Kashmir division during this period.
  • 27–30 August 2025:
    The region is likely to witness hot and humid conditions with occasional brief spells of rain or thunder at a few places.

Advisory Issued by MET Centre Srinagar

Authorities have cautioned residents and travelers about potential weather-related hazards, especially between 23rd and 26th August.

  • Intense to heavy rain/thundershowers are possible at some locations in Jammu Division and Kashmir Division.
  • Risk of cloudbursts and flash floods at vulnerable spots.
  • Likelihood of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in hilly areas.
  • People are strictly advised to avoid water bodies, streams, rivers, embankments, loose soil structures, and Kaccha houses during this period.

Precautionary Measures

  • Avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas, especially in hilly terrain.
  • Keep emergency supplies ready in case of landslide or flash flood disruptions.
  • Farmers and orchardists are advised to plan agricultural activities accordingly.
  • Tourists and pilgrims should remain updated with the latest weather advisories.

The Meteorological Department has urged all concerned departments and the general public to stay alert and follow guidelines to prevent untoward incidents.
