EducationNTA Fully Prepared for NEET (UG) 2026 Re-Examination on June 21; Massive Security and Monitoring Arrangements in Place

New Delhi, June 20: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that all preparations have been completed for the conduct of the NEET (UG) 2026 Re-Examination, scheduled to be held on June 21, 2026, across India and select international centres. With more than 22 lakh medical aspirants set to appear, the agency has put in place one of the most extensive examination security and monitoring systems ever deployed for a national-level entrance test.

According to the NTA, the examination will be conducted at 5,440 centres spread across 551 cities in India and 14 overseas locations, ensuring accessibility for candidates while maintaining strict examination standards. The test will be held in English and 12 Indian languages.

Unprecedented Security Arrangements

In an effort to ensure a fair, transparent, and leak-proof examination process, NTA has significantly strengthened surveillance and security mechanisms.

More than 95,000 examination rooms have been equipped with CCTV surveillance, while a total of 1,38,560 CCTV cameras will monitor examination activities. The live CCTV feeds will be monitored simultaneously at the National, State, and Ministry levels.

Adding another layer of security, the agency has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based analysis of CCTV footage to detect suspicious activities and irregularities in real time.

To prevent any electronic malpractice, 51,311 signal jammers, supplied by the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), have been deployed across examination centres.

Large-Scale Human Resource Deployment

NTA has also mobilised a massive workforce to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.

Each examination room will have two invigilators, while every centre will have more than 10 dedicated functionaries overseeing various operations.

The agency has deployed:

– 38,795 frisking personnel
– 48,448 biometric verification staff
– Face authentication systems for candidate verification
– Approximately 6,700 observers
– More than 100 virtual observers
– An average of 40–50 security personnel per centre

Officials stated that biometric verification staff strength has been doubled compared to previous examinations to strengthen identity verification and prevent impersonation.

Secure Transportation of Confidential Materials

To safeguard question papers and other confidential examination materials, NTA has coordinated with multiple national agencies.

The Police, Paramilitary Forces, Indian Air Force, and the Department of Posts have been involved in transporting and securing examination materials. Confidential packets have been verified and secured through designated custodian banks before being dispatched to examination centres.

As part of preparedness measures, a nationwide mock drill was conducted on June 20 to test every operational aspect of the examination process, including logistics, surveillance systems, biometric verification, communication channels, and emergency response mechanisms.

Candidate-Friendly Measures Introduced

Apart from security arrangements, NTA has also focused on improving the examination experience for students.

Facilities arranged at centres include:

– Availability of drinking water
– ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) support
– Ambulance services for emergencies
– Shade and seating arrangements for parents and guardians
– Wall clocks in every examination room
– Additional rough sheets for candidates
– Special arrangements for left-handed candidates
– Extended time allowances to compensate for entry and verification procedures

Officials said these measures are aimed at reducing stress and ensuring a comfortable examination environment for students.

NTA Urges Students to Ignore Rumours

Ahead of the examination, the agency has appealed to candidates and parents to rely only on official communications released by NTA.

The agency cautioned against fake messages, misinformation campaigns, and fabricated “paper leak” claims being circulated on social media platforms. Such rumours, officials said, are intended to create confusion, panic, and unnecessary anxiety among students.

Candidates have been advised to regularly check official NTA notifications and avoid sharing or acting upon unverified information.

Message for NEET Aspirants

With the re-examination just hours away, NTA extended its best wishes to the more than 22 lakh students appearing for the country’s largest medical entrance examination.

The agency expressed confidence in its preparations and encouraged candidates to remain calm, focused, and positive while approaching the examination.

As India prepares to conduct one of its most closely monitored examinations, authorities hope the enhanced security measures and transparent processes will ensure a fair opportunity for every aspiring medical student.
