Erratic Weather to Continue in Jammu & Kashmir Till March 20; Snowfall, Rain Likely

Srinagar, March 17: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast continued erratic weather conditions across Jammu & Kashmir till March 20, with spells of rain and snowfall expected in several regions.

According to the latest update, the weather will remain partly cloudy on March 17, with brief spells of light rain in plains and light snowfall over higher reaches at a few places.

Rain & Snow Likely from March 18–20

From March 18 to March 20, the weather is expected to turn generally cloudy, with intermittent light to moderate rain and snowfall at many places across the Union Territory. The MeT department has also warned that higher reaches of the Chenab Valley and South Kashmir may receive moderate to heavy snowfall during this period.

Improvement Expected After March 21

Weather conditions are likely to improve from March 21 to March 25, with generally dry conditions expected across most parts of Jammu & Kashmir. However, another spell of cloudy weather is predicted between March 26 and March 28, with chances of light rain and snowfall over higher elevations.

Advisory Issued for Public & Travellers ⚠

The MeT Centre has issued an advisory urging travellers, transporters, and the general public to remain cautious, especially while traveling through higher reaches and important mountain passes between March 18 and 20.

There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds (40–50 km/h) at a few places during this period, along with chances of isolated hailstorms, which may disrupt normal activities.

Farmers Advised to Pause Operations

Farmers across the region have been advised to suspend agricultural operations from March 18 to 20 due to the expected adverse weather conditions.

Authorities have urged residents to stay updated with official weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
