Weather Update for Jammu & Kashmir
Heavy rainfall has been recorded in parts of Jammu & Kashmir, prompting the Meteorological Centre Srinagar to issue a weather advisory warning of localized flash floods, landslides, and mudslides in vulnerable areas over the coming days.
According to the latest update, Udhampur received the highest rainfall at 85 mm, followed by Kathua ARG with 41.5 mm and Rajpura ARG with 27 mm. Light to moderate rainfall was also reported from several other weather stations across the Union Territory.

The weather is expected to remain partly cloudy with one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places, mainly during the late afternoon, evening, and late night/early morning hours.
The MET Centre has also warned that a few places may experience heavy rainfall or brief intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms, which could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas.
July 6 to July 9
The region is likely to remain hot and humid, with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places. Isolated locations may continue to witness brief intense heavy showers and thunderstorms.
Advisory Issued
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has advised residents to remain cautious as heavy rainfall and intense showers may trigger localized flash floods, landslides, and mudslides, especially in vulnerable areas.
People are advised to:
- Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall.
- Stay away from nallas, streams, and landslide-prone areas.
- Follow updates issued by local authorities and the Meteorological Department.
- Exercise caution while driving in hilly regions due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
